Fukuoka Zoo & Botanical Garden
Overview
Located in the center of Fukuoka City and easily accessible by public transportation, this zoo and botanical garden is popular for its behavioral exhibits that allow visitors to observe the true ecology of animals up close, such as the “Penguin Area,” which opened in January 2022, and the “Asian Tropical Valley Area. At the “ZooLab,” an animal information center, visitors can enjoy learning about animals through hands-on exhibits using digital content.
The zoo has various playground facilities that are very popular with small children. A Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, and various other playground equipment are located on the highest point near the zoo’s West Gate. From the Ferris wheel, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Fukuoka City, which is fun for adults as well.
The merry-go-round is designed in the royal style, with a gorgeous colored horse-drawn carriage and white horses revolving around a symbolic tree, slowly moving up and down on a turntable. The fun time and friendly atmosphere of the carriages spinning to the music is a playground equipment that can be enjoyed together with the people who see it. Please visit the park with your family!
