Takachiho

Overview

Takachiho is one of Japan’s representative scenic spots, designated as a national scenic natural monument in 1934 as the Gokase River Gorge. It is known for the unique beauty of the valley formed by columnar joints, including Manai Falls, the symbol of Takachiho. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Miyazaki Prefecture and is popular both inside and outside the prefecture. In the mysterious and characteristic scenery created by nature, you will feel like you are in another world while you are on the boat. Takachiho is also known as a “power/spiritual spot”. Along with Takachiho, Amano Iwato Shrine is one of the most popular spots for spiritual experiences.
